SALDEF Gala Highlights Civil Rights Champions and Accomplishments

Reporting from WASHINGTON - In an evening of fanfare and fundraising, SALDEF highlighted its accomplishments and recognized those who went above the call of duty in fighting for civil right. Of all its many accomplishments in the last year, the most significant was the repeal of the Oregan law that banned teachers from wearing religious garb. The Department of Justice joined SALDEF and other interfaith groups to push the repeal through the legislature. And those involved in the repeal were recognized Saturday night at the group’s annual gala in Washington.
